The SIIT Academic Committee has approved the Publication Requirements for Graduation of Graduate Students 2025. This announcement shall apply to all graduate students who are enrolled in the academic year 2025 (Student ID 68xx). The requirements are as follows:

1.    Recognized International Publication Databases

Journals recognized as international journals must be indexed in one of the following internationally recognized databases:

1.1 Web of Science Master Journal List

  • Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)
  • Social Science Citation Index (SSCI)
  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI)

1.2 Scopus Database

Source types must be classified as “Journals” in the SCOPUS Source Type and papers must be classified as “Articles” in the Document Type.

2.    Journal Quartile Ranking Databases

The quartile ranking of journals will be evaluated using the Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) or Scopus Cite Score Rank

3.    Recognized National and Regional Publication Databases

Journals recognized as national or regional journals must be indexed in one of the following nationally or regionally recognized databases:

3.1 Thai Journal Citation Index (TCI) (Tier 1 or Tier 2)

3.2 ASEAN Citation Index (ACI)

4.    Definition of International Conference Publications

Conference publications will be recognized only if they meet the following criteria:

4.1   Conference committees, including organizing, scientific, or technical committees, must comprise experts from a minimum of 3 countries.

4.2  Full papers presented at the conference must be submitted by authors from a minimum of 3 countries.

4.3   Full papers must be in English.

4.4   Full papers must undergo peer review before acceptance.

4.5   Any conference identified by the organizer as a “national conference” is not an international conference.

4.6   Conferences organized by predatory organizers or publishers do not qualify as international conferences.

4.7   Full papers from SIIT students presented at international conferences will only be recognized by SIIT if they are officially published and disseminated in the conference proceedings, either in printed or digital formats.

5.    Authorship and Contribution Requirements

The following requirements apply to authorship and student contributions:

5.1 There is no requirement regarding the maximum number of authors.

5.2 Authorship Requirements

5.2.1    Master’s students must be listed as co-authors.

5.2.2    Doctoral students must be the first author or the corresponding author.

5.3 Affiliation Requirements

5.3.1     To be counted toward graduation, the student’s affiliation in a publication must be listed as “Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University.”

5.3.2      If a journal or conference only permits the use of the highest-level organization in an affiliation, the student may list their affiliation as “Thammasat University,” provided they submit evidence of the journal or conference’s requirement.

5.3.3       For a student enrolled in a dual or joint degree program under an MoU with a partner university, the student may include an affiliation with the partner university if it is one of the degree-awarding institutions. In such cases, the publication will be counted as one publication toward the student’s graduation.

5.3.4       If a student’s affiliations include additional institutions not covered by Condition (5.3.3), SIIT and any partner university covered by Condition (5.3.3) will be regarded as a single entity. The contribution to the publication will be divided equally among all institutions, with SIIT and the partner university considered as a combined entity. Only the portion attributed to SIIT and the partner university as a combined entity will be counted toward graduation.

5.3.5       Institutions providing financial support for the study have no bearing on the authors’ affiliations and must be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section of the publication.

5.4 Authorship Contributions

5.4.1        Authors’ Contribution Statement signed by all authors is required for journal papers.

5.4.2        The contribution of a doctoral student must not be less than that of any co-author.

6.    Quality Requirements for International Journal Publications for Doctoral Graduation

The doctoral curriculum explicitly specifies the required numbers and types of publications. In addition, doctoral students must meet the following quality requirements:

6.1 Plan 1.1 (Thesis only)

6.2.1       If two international journal papers are used to fulfill the international journal publication requirement, at least one must be published or accepted in a journal list under Number 1.1

7.    Publication Use Restrictions

Each publication can be used for the graduation of only one student.

8.    Restrictions on Predatory Publications

Publications from predatory publishers will not be accepted under any circumstances. Students must ensure that their chosen journals or conferences are reputable and meet academic standards. Publications from predatory publishers will not be counted toward graduation requirements.
